St. Tropez formulations contain a combination of two completely safe active ingredients that work together to give you natural looking colour that fades as your skin naturally exfoliates.  The first ingredient, DHA (dihydroxyacetone) is a colourless sugar that interacts with the amino acids on the surface of the skin to produce a temporary colour change - your tan.  The DHA is combined with erythrulose, a naturally moisturizing ingredient derived from raspberries, that works in the same way as DHA but it develops more slowly, giving you a smoother colour that lasts longer and fades more evenly. The solution is aloe vera based for added hydration and contains some green pigment to counteract any orange appearance.

Our technician airbrushes the solution onto your body while you stand in a booth. The clear solution goes on with some guide colour to ensure that no spots are missed. The application process takes about 15 minutes to apply. As each individuals amino acid are unique to their own body, each person will achieve their own correct shade suited to their skin tone.  

Once the application is complete, the solution needs 8 hours to completely develop. The guide colour is then washed away and your beautiful, natural looking tan is underneath. The tan will last 4-7 days, but can vary from person to person depending on daily activities. We also carry the St. Tropez self tanning system that you can purchase to maintain your beautiful tan at home.

Pre-Treatment Advice

It is preferable not to apply any perfume, deodorant, lotion or aromatherapy oil the day of your treatment as these reduce the results.

Shave and exfoliate the day before your treatment. Use the St. Tropez body polish over the entire body, paying special attention to hands, elbows, knees and feet.

Wear dark, loose fitting clothing as well as dark underwear to the appointment.

Post-Treatment Advice

Your tan will begin developing immediately underneath the guide colour, and will continue to develop as the 8 hours passes. As this process continues, you will appear to be getting darker and darker. Do not be alarmed. When you wash the guide colour away, your tan will be underneath.

Do not shower or bathe for 8 hours after the treatment.

Do not participate in any activity which can cause perspiration for at least the first 12 hours after treatment.

The guide colour of this product can stain synthetic fibres, wool and silk. If the time period required for the tan to develop is overnight, we recommend that you sleep on dark bed linens.

Tan Maintenance Tips

With the correct aftercare, you can make your tan last longer.

Shower with St. Tropez tan optimizing shower cream. This special skin quenching formula helps to hydrate whilst gently cleansing your skin. Make sure to pat yourself dry. Avoid rubbing. Rubbing is considered a form of exfoliation.

Apply St. Tropez body moisturizer daily. This hydrating body lotion contains L-tyrosine which activates the melanin in the skin, ensuring that your tan lasts the longest possible time.

Exfoliate your skin with St. Tropez body polish every 3 days to ensure your tan fades evenly. Apply a St. Tropez tan intensifying product to prolong the tan.

Avoid swimming pools and hotubs as chlorine will bleach your tan.
